The sweetest interior design moment: create the nursery for my baby boy.
We transformed the once called Crystal Room into our baby boy's nursery. The inspiration is Modern Safari, using blue and orange colour scheme, keeping the selection of elements quite classic and adding a few playful items such as stuffed animals for a fun Safari mood.

As we were looking for a hassle free makeover, we kept the previous wall colour which is pretty neutral, so layering with colour and pattern was important to bring the room to life.

The art on the walls brings personality to the space. For the art close to the cot, I wanted something quirky and interesting so it took me a while to find something I really liked. Then I came across the coolest poster where a giraffe holds a bunch of balloons. Creative, colourful and fun.
For the same art, I decided to upholster the mount of the frame with some fabric I had left that matches with the custom made cushion we are using the room. It is a blue tiger print, so perfect for the scheme. This was an interesting DIY project and I will definitely attempt to do it again in another occasion.
We already had classic white curtains in the room, but we needed a blackout blind for sleep purpose. The curtain lining is thermal so it doesn't darken the room as we need. This was an opportunity to add more blue and a beautiful check pattern.

The final touch was to layer a blue rug on top of the carpet, otherwise the beige was going to be predominant. The rug makes the blue pop. I chose a vintage look alike rug to contrast with patterns and bring a classic element to the scheme. To break the seriousness, a tiger rug was added on top of it. The perfect combo.
The end result is exactly what I expected: simplicity and elegance meet colour and fun.
